The NSW Department of Education has just released a new resource for Japanese, and we think your students are going to love it!!
妖怪を探せ - A Tanken Centre adventure is an immersive, interactive escape room-style learning experience designed to deepen students’ engagement with Japanese language and culture.
Set within the Tanken Centre, students take on the role of a student, Natsuki, to track down hidden yōkai. The aim of the resource is to clear all the yōkai so that tomorrow's visiting student group don't get any unexpected surprises!!
It can be incorporated into a variety of units, reinforcing greetings, self-introductions, numbers, hiragana, Japanese houses, food, family and Japan.
Students progress through each space in the Tanken Centre (for example, the genkan and the garden), challenging themselves with activities to unlock the hidden yōkai
in each space.
It comes with a teacher booklet, which unpacks the resource in detail and explores ways it can be embedded in the classroom.
Check it out for yourself: Visit A Tanken Centre adventure or scan the QR code. The resource is free and available to all sectors.
