Songs and music with secondary students(teenagers)

Using pop songs in the classroom is a common activity. They are an enjoyable alternative to the traditional listening comprehension.

Choose songs that are clear, make sense and do not contain
a lot of unknown vocabulary.
You may decide to pre-teach some key vocabulary.
This is a wonderful Spanish Language resources website where you can find inspiration.

Everybody loves music. It is great entertainment, that helps you both relax and focus. Apart from being cool and fun, music has many positive effects on our brain.Some say it has healing power, while others claim that it helps develop the cognitive capacities of young children. But did you know that music can also greatly help you learn a new language? And not only by immersing you in a culture and a tradition: Music genuinely helps your brain to process all this new information quicker and better.
Here are five reasons why music is a great tool for learning a new language.
 
Music stimulates memory
Singing and learning lyrics increases vocabulary
Singing a song improves pronunciation
Listening to music will improve your comprehension of the language

Important information - 2015 ELTF Program

Please note that there will be a delay in the opening of applications for the 2015 ELTF program.

Following the 2014-15 Budget, changes are being considered for the January 2015 program, as some of the ELTF funds have been redirected to ACARA to develop new languages curricula for Foundation to Year 10. For further information please click see the Q&A sheet below or click here.

As a result the application opening date will be delayed for a number of weeks.  Please check the ELTF website where further information will be provided once details are confirmed.

Dates for the information sessions planned for Oxford Street and via Adobe Connect will be announced once the new application timelines have been confirmed.

'We would like to inform you that our Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport has recently informed us of their decision to offer 3 scholarship to Australia teachers of Spanish to attend "Courses for the Virtual Environment of Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language" (introductory;2 and advanced;1), to be held at the International University Menéndez Pelayo (Santander, Spain), 28th July to the 8th of August 2014.  Please find attached a
brief outline of the scholarships offered.
Unfortunately, the closing date for applications is the 14th of May 2014. We apologise for the time frame
that we have to work with, for this reason we ask for your corporation in this matter advertising these
