Saturday School of Community Languages seeking casual Spanish teacher The Saturday School of Community Languages (SSCL) is looking for a casual teacher of Spanish to work at the SSCL Ashfield Centre. For further information, please see the attached Expression of Interest form or contact Nancy Morvillo, Acting Principal, Saturday School of Community Languages at nancy.morvillo@det.nsw.edu.au
One of our colleagues is looking for a copy of the Zoom 2 Español audio - can you help?
They are willing to do a swap for Amigos 1 audio or other resources that they have available. If you can assist, please contact Maxine Acosta. We are seeking expressions of interest from experienced NSW Department of Education teachers of Spanish who would be interested in mentoring early career teachers through the Virtual Languages Mentoring Network (VLMN).
The VLMN is designed to support beginning and/or isolated languages teachers 7-12, especially those without the support of a head teacher with languages background. Early career and geographically remote teachers of languages often work as the only language teacher in a school, or the only teacher of their specific language and have professional development needs and questions about day-to-day pedagogy which cannot always be met at school level. If you are interested in becoming a mentor to early career Spanish language teachers, please contact Michelle Walls by email or on 02 9244 5573 as soon as possible. Yannis Blackburn is an English language teacher in Barcelona, interested in linking classes via social media.
Social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and video messaging services could be used to communicate with his students at the English Sun Academy. Teachers would moderate all interactions and could assist with the creation of messages and projects. There are currently 15 interested Spanish students in Barcelona, between grades 8 to 12. Students would initially be grouped according to age and interests. NSW public school teachers must follow the NSW Department of Education’s Social Media Implementation Policy. Participating students must be aged 13 or over and have parental permission to participate. Students from Barcelona will have also obtained parental permission. Interested teachers should contact Yannis directly at yannisblackburn@gmail.com |
