Early career and geographically remote teachers of languages often work as the only language teacher in the school, and have specific needs which cannot always be met at school level. This network will develop the capacity of experienced supportive teachers of languages to mentor these teachers. This initiative is in response to the Department of Education’s commitment to teacher quality, including increasing support for beginning teachers and teachers from rural and remote areas.
The VLMN will include up to fifteen school-based language teacher mentors, selected via expressions of interest, and up to 60 mentees.
Expressions of interest are invited from:
- 1. Experienced NSW Department of Education teachers/Head Teachers of Languages (mentors):
- 2. Early career teachers and geographically remote teachers of Languages in NSW Department of Education schools (mentees):
- who would like to join the newly-established Virtual Languages Mentoring Network (VLMN) for 2017.
- Please express your interest by completing the relevant form by 5pm on Friday 9 December 2016 via this week's edition of SchoolBiz in the NSW Department of Education's Staff Portal: http://bit.ly/2h1aqR2
