These registered professional learning events will support secondary language teachers in NSW public schools to implement new K-10 language syllabuses* from 2019, and will contribute five hours of professional learning addressing Australian Professional Standards for Teachers 2.2.2, 6.2.2 and 7.2.2 (Proficient).
Participation in these workshops is FREE.
During the workshop you will learn about the structure of the new K-10 language syllabuses, focusing on new elements of the syllabuses and working with colleagues to understand the implications for planning and assessment.
* New K-10 syllabuses have been released for Chinese, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean and Spanish. Draft syllabuses for Arabic, Hebrew, Modern Greek, Russian, Turkish and Vietnamese have not yet been released for consultation, so teachers of these languages should bring a copy of one of the approved scripted language syllabuses (Chinese, Japanese or Korean) for reference. A copy of the Languages K-10 Framework may also be useful.
The new syllabus for Aboriginal languages is currently in development. More information about additional targeted professional learning for teachers of Aboriginal languages in NSW schools will be provided as it becomes available.
