If you teach preservice teachers, or have contact with practicum students, please let them know about this free-of-charge event.
Registration is via MyPL. Details are provided on the attached flyer.
The Preservice Language Teachers’ Program (PLTP) links closely to Great Teaching, Inspired Learning, and has been designed in response to data indicating some early career language teachers feel underprepared to enter the classroom. As preservice language teachers come from a range of tertiary courses throughout NSW and interstate, the program addresses the inconsistencies and gaps in pedagogical knowledge.
At the conference, participants will be engaged in targeted workshops (based on identified needs from the tertiary sector), including:
• student engagement and advocacy
• managing multi-level classrooms
• digital tools in the languages classroom
• numeracy in the languages classroom
• differentiating activities.
There will also be plenary sessions presented by:
• NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)
• the NSW branch of the Modern Language Teachers’ Association (MLTA).
Participants will have the opportunity to network with experienced teachers of their specific target language, and build relationships with preservice teachers from other NSW institutions.
All plenary and workshop sessions align strongly with Standard 6.1 and Standard 7.4 of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
Attendance can be logged as Evidence for Accreditation in the participants’ professional learning journals, as a record of engagement to achieve Proficient Teacher.
There is no cost to attend this event.
Morning and afternoon tea provided.
Assistance with travel/accommodation available upon request.
