University of Sydney seeks expert teachers – developing methodology support for preservice teachers4/5/2018 Dear language teachers in NSW public schools,
You're invited to participate in the research project: Developing language specific teaching strategies and resources. We want to find out: How do teachers support students’ understanding of a difficult aspect of the target language, for example gender of nouns, verb conjugation, tone? Who’s running the project? The research is being conducted by Dr Hongzhi Yang, the coordinator of the Languages methodology courses at the University of Sydney. This information will be used to develop: Language-specific multimedia, online modules to enhance languages preservice teachers’ learning. The proposed interactive online modules will feature videos of experienced language teachers from both primary and secondary schools and form the basis for student teacher resource development and provide continuing up-to-date support. What will be involved? Stage 1. You will be asked to complete a short online survey, which takes 5 mins to complete. Please click the link below to do the survey: https://redcap.sydney.edu.au/surveys/?s=3R3LF7F9LW Stage 2. I will visit you school during school terms at a time of your choosing. During this visit, you will take part in a 20-30 minutes interview and a videotaped classroom observation of your language class, which will last about 50 minutes. Stage 3. You will be asked to provide lesson plans and/or teaching materials relevant to the content of the classroom observation and interview. Who do I contact for further information? Please email hongzhi.yang@sydney.edu.au or phone 0425-866-777 to let me know you are interested. I will send you further information and answer any questions you have. Registrations for Languages at Sydney: Go Global 2018 are closing on 31 January 2018.
