Language Teachers Network – Sydney North

The Language Teachers Network – Sydney North will hold its first meeting for 2022 as a full day event on Friday 8 April. The whole day will be delivered online.

This full day language network meeting day is made up of 2 parts. You must enrol in both sessions as we will be using ideas from part one in the afternoon:
  • - 9:00 am-12:00 pm – Languages and Literacy 7-12 – presented by the Languages and Culture team
  • - 1:00-3:00 pm – Language teachers network meeting. How can we use, alleviate and address language anxiety in:
  • - promoting languages at our school, (do we overtly address language anxiety)
  • - addressing it and overcoming it in our formative tasks
  • - alleviating it in assessment tasks to maximise student engagement and performance.

To enrol for the day you need to enrol in two sessions on MyPL:
1. Languages and Literacy 7-12, course code NR32663 – please select Languages and literacy 7-12 - Sydney North
2. Language teachers’ network meeting, course code NR25534 – please select Sydney North - Language Teacher Network meeting.

Please ensure you have approval from your principal and enrol by Tuesday 5 April.

The Languages and Culture team invites expressions of interest from language teachers in NSW public secondary schools to lead a languages network for 2022 in the areas of:
  • Far North Coast
  • Lower North Coast
  • Macarthur
  • Queanbeyan
  • Riverina
  • Sydney South
  • Sydney South West.
 
Networks are a vital component of teacher professional learning and support, and strengthen links between our team and schools, and across schools in local areas.

Network leaders are provided with comprehensive support in order to fulfil the requirements of the role, including professional learning, a network leader's handbook and relief to organise events.
 

Network leadership is an excellent opportunity if you're working towards or thinking about working towards higher levels of accreditation.

If you are interested, please consider the information regarding the role of a network leader on the attached EOI form, complete and email the form, including your principal's endorsement and the selection criteria.
