Stage 6 school-based assessment – [Language] and Literature courses

The Languages and Culture team is currently running workshops and network meetings focused on Stage 6 school-based assessment for Beginners, Continuers and Extension courses.

If anyone is interested in collaborating in an afternoon sharing session for [Language] and Literature courses, please contact SHIRLEY.CAI@det.nsw.edu.au from Killarney Heights HS.

If enough teachers are interested, the Languages and Culture will arrange a venue for the sharing session.

Reminder: Seeking Stage 6 Extension and Stage 6 Language and Literature teachers to develop support resources - EOIs close 22 September 2017

Reminder for experienced DoE teachers of Stage 6 Extension and Stage 6 Languages and Literature to register their interest to participate in the development of high-quality support materials for the new course prescriptions that will be implemented in Term 4 2018. The closing date for applications is Friday 22 September 2017.

We are still seeking EOIs for the following courses:
- Arabic Extension
- Chinese Extension
- French Extension
- Indonesian Extension
- Italian Extension
- Modern Greek Extension
- Spanish Extension
- Chinese and Literature
- Korean and Literature
- Japanese and Literature
- Indonesian and Literature.

Participation in the writing project will be over a period of 5 days:
- Monday 4 December 2017
- Tuesday 12 December 2017
- Wednesday 13 December 2017
- Thursday 15 February 2018
- Friday 23 February 2018.

Should you wish to participate, please complete the relevant EOI form attached below and email the completed form to aris.cao1@det.nsw.edu.au. Your participation ensures that we are able to provide high-quality support to Stage 6 language teachers and without the necessary number of participants, the project will be unable to move forward.

Closing date for applications: Friday 22 September 2017.

Stage 6 Chinese and Literature Course Prescriptions 2019-2023

The amended Stage 6 Chinese and Literature Course Prescriptions 2019-2023 are now available from the syllabus section of the NESA website. Implementation for the new course prescriptions will commence from Term 1 2018 with Year 11.

Schools are reminded that study of the texts prescribed for the Year 12 course may not begin before the completion of the Year 11 course. This also applies to the study of a prescribed text in another medium, such as the film of a novel.

Languages and Literacy registered PL - MyPL closes 1 August

A reminder to NSW DoE teachers to enrol via MyPL for the Languages and Literacy module by 1 August.

The module is delivered online in a blended learning mode by accomplished languages educators.

The Languages and Literacy module consists of:
- three online webinars
- associated pre-tasks
- a post-task.

Participants are required to participate in all webinars which are facilitated via Adobe Connect from 3:30pm on:
- Thursday 10 August
- Thursday 24 August and
- Thursday 7 September 2017.

Successful completion of the module will contribute 4.5 hours of registered PD addressing standards 2.5.2 and 6.2.2 of the APST.

Enrolment is simple, just enter Languages and Literacy in the MyPL catalogue and enrol in the session.

The module will be delivered online in a blended learning mode by accomplished languages educators.
