From the Languages and Culture team to you and your families, we wish you a very happy and relaxing holiday period. Congratulations on surviving 2020, and thank you for all that you do to support language learners across NSW!
As the year comes to its long overdue end, we don't want to add to your workload but if you haven't joined our statewide staffroom yet, please take a moment to join – we now have over 300 members!
Our new staffroom is on Microsoft Teams, with Yammer embedded. Please complete the entry survey. We're looking forward to seeing you there. The Languages and Culture team is gauging interest in an online planning day for teachers from NSW public schools to facilitate programming for the Stage 6 Beginners courses for early 2021. If there is enough interest, the day will offer the opportunity to network/collaborate/program with teachers of the courses, to collaborate on programming ideas and approaches.
If you are interested, please complete the short survey by Friday 29 January 2021. Please email Coreena Allen if you need further information. The Languages and Culture team invites expressions of interest from language teachers in NSW public secondary schools to lead a languages network for 2020 in the areas of: - Far North Coast - Lower North coast - Macarthur - Riverina - Tamworth. Networks are a vital component of teacher professional learning and support, and strengthen links between our team and schools, and across schools in local areas. Network leaders are provided with comprehensive support in order to fulfil the requirements of the role, including professional learning, a network leader's handbook and relief to organise events. Network leadership is an excellent opportunity if you're working towards or thinking about working towards higher levels of accreditation. If you are interested, please complete and email the attached EOI form, including your principal's endorsement and the selection criteria. Applications close Friday 26 February 2021. For further information please contact Evia Kyriacou or call 7814 2820. ![]()

The survey will enable us to capture everyone's details, which is important for our data collections as we report on our successes to the senior executive – things like how many teachers are interacting with us, and which schools they're from. Our Yammer group – Languages NSW (7-12) will stay!! It will be embedded into the new Teams space, which will offer Yammer and so much more. The new staffroom is for languages teachers 7-12 in NSW public schools. Our primary colleagues are also welcome to join, if they teach at a NSW public school. This blog/email subscription will continue for colleagues from all sectors. The Mid-North Language Teacher Network will hold its Term 4 meeting this Thursday.
