24/10/2016

The names of the HSC Heritage and Background Speaker courses are changing from 2017. The new names reflect the course content rather than the targeted learner group, as was previously the case. The changes apply to courses in Chinese, Indonesian, Japanese and Korean.

  • Heritage HSC courses will be renamed [Language] in Context: e.g. Chinese in Context, Korean in Context.
  • Background Speakers HSC courses will be renamed [Language] and Literature: e.g. Japanese and Literature.

These changes apply to the course name only. There are no changes to the syllabuses or examination specifications. For courses where a new name applies, a new course number will be generated. Contact the Student Records Team at BOSTES on (02) 9367 8001 if you require assistance creating 2017 student entries using the new course numbers in Schools Online. For further curriculum related information pertaining to the course name changes, contact Howard Jacobs, Inspector Languages BOSTES, on (02) 9367 8151 or howard.jacobs@bos.nsw.edu.au.
