Each portfolio contains annotated student work samples in relation to 3 achievement standards – satisfactory, above satisfactory and below satisfactory. The samples have been drawn from a range of assessment tasks and are authentic samples of student work.

All teachers are welcome to attend this NESA-registered professional learning event. The Languages and Culture team have been creating and collating support materials to assist with learning from home. With the additional SDD at the start of Term 2, we thought we’d summarise some of the things you can explore and/or get involved in. Virtual statewide staffroom Make sure you’ve joined our virtual staffroom in Yammer, where over 460 language teachers are asking questions, and sharing ideas and resources. We currently have over 150 resources which have been shared by language teachers 7-12. Yammer is accessed via your portal, under ‘My applications’ – add it to your essentials and join in the fun and collaboration. There is no better time than now to connect with your colleagues. Teaching in class and online at the same time As we move into Term 2, we will be teaching students with us in the classroom and students learning from home, at the same time. Attached please find a support document with advice on how to adapt your classroom practices and activities for delivery in this way. Professional learning – LIVE How to deliver a language lesson via Zoom – online session This is an interactive session to show how you can conduct an online language lesson to your class using Zoom. It includes how to incorporate new learning, adaption of language learning games, group work through Zoom breakout rooms, a listening activity using Wizer and playing interactive activities such as Kahoot. Zoom is now available in your portal, under ‘My learning tools’. Please join Wizer prior to the session. The Languages and Culture team has produced short professional learning videos on:
- Quality online assessment in the virtual space for languages 7-10 - Teaching and learning in the virtual space in languages. You can access both professional learning recordings through the Learning on demand page of the department's website. These professional learning sessions will each provide 30 minutes of registered professional learning.
