The Consulate-General of Japan in Sydney would like to inform Japanese language teachers and school principals of a pilot program being proposed by the Gunma Prefecture Board of Education.
The purpose of the program is to provide elementary school students in both Australia and Japan with new opportunities to communicate with native English and Japanese speakers through the use of online technology.
The initial goal of the pilot program is to establish an ongoing online language exchange between a public primary school in NSW and a public elementary school in Gunma Prefecture. This would involve the setting up of an "online language exchange window" in a shared, public space, where students and teachers from each school can directly interact, as well as establishing classroom-to-classroom links aimed at promoting active cultural exchange in real-time.
We are looking for some primary schools around Sydney which might be interested in the pilot program. If any teachers or principals would like to learn more, please contact Rafael Villadiego at the Consulate-General of Japan in Sydney on (02) 9250 1000 or cginfo@sy.mofa.go.jp
