Opportunity for senior students to live and work in Japan

Are your senior students interested in an opportunity to improve their Japanese language skills while living and working in Japan?

This information may be of interest to teachers and students. Please note that the non-DoE events and products mentioned on this site are included at the reader's discretion. The inclusion of this information is not an endorsement by the DoE.

My name is Larissa Baba, I am an experienced DET Japanese Teacher. Often I have been asked by my year 12 students “What is the best way to maintain my Japanese language skills after school?”. I have always wanted to encourage them to actually travel to Japan in order to experience life and work in Japan for themselves but realistically this has not been possible as the employment options available to HSC graduates are very limited. That is where the idea for J-Dream Education and our program was born.

J-Dream Education has secured an employment agreement with one of Japan's leading NPO's, "University Coop".  University Coop is associated with over 200 Universities throughout Japan and run shops, cafés, restaurants, travel agencies and more. University Coop has agreed to offer our participants a 3 month plus secure job and arranged accommodation at one of their many university outlets.

This is a unique opportunity being offered to current or previous students of Japanese who are genuinely interested in immersing themselves in a Japanese environment and sincerely wish to improve their Japanese language skills and enhance their future employment opportunities.

University Coop also has student associations in each of their universities, therefore our participants will have the option of being invloved in many social activities and volunteer groups in their free time, giving them further opportunity to broaden their language skills and friendship network.

Today, if my senior students were to ask me the same question that I mentioned above, I would be excited to let them know that through J-Dream Education's program they now have an option to put their Japanese language skills to use, living and working in Japan in a safe and supported environment.

Therefore, Sensei-gata we would greatly appreciate it if you could please share information of our program with your students and hand out copies of our attached flyer. We are currently recruiting for participants to start working in Japan in January / February 2016. I can conduct information sessions at your school on request.

I am more than happy to answer any questions that you or your students may have. Please contact me, Larissa Baba.
