Marugoto is a new course designed for Japanese by the Japan Foundation and published by Sanshusha.
Although designated for 16+ on our website, we recommend this course for students who have elected Japanese from year 9 to year 12.
The 4th level A2-B1 has just been printed, and the level B1 (year 12) is due out before the end of 2015. Levels A2/B1 and B1 are recommended for years 11 and 12.

The course books for the first 3 levels : A1 Starter, A2.1 and A2.2, are in two volumes per level :

  • Katsudoo is the course book for communicative activities
  • Rikai is the course book for language competence
Marugoto is designed with an emphasis on understanding and respecting other cultures with a context of people from a variety of cultures interacting in Japanese.

Students manage their own learning through a self-assessment portfolio.

There is also an excellent website Marugoto.org for all audio downloads, videos and a wide selection of supplementary activities, word book, Sakabun worksheets, vocabulary index, phrase index, kanji word list, Nihongo check (portfolio) and teacher's resources.

Marugoto 4 (A2/B1) has just been published. Take a look here - open the book and see for yourself.

Look on the Intext website by entering "Marugoto" in the top "search" window of the website www.languageint.com.au. The "view inside" facility will allow you to browse in the books with the introduction and sample pages. You can also request them ON APPROVAL with right to return.
