The main objective of this workshop is to provide Japanese language educators the opportunity to learn and discuss issues related to retention in secondary and tertiary education. The focus of the workshop is on ways in which we can maintain Japanese learners studying the language onto higher levels. There will be talks by experts in the field with up-to-date information and with practical ideas that are applicable to both secondary and tertiary contexts.
Another important objective is to build and strengthen the relations between participants in order to build and forge a network of Japanese language teachers across regional, state-wide, inter-state schools and universities.
Participants not working in tertiary institutions will be able to attend JSAA Conference sessions on the afternoon of the Workshop free of charge. Sessions will include a language education stream, as well as streams related to other aspects of Japanese studies.
