Tanken Centre Education Officer - EOI closes Monday 23 October

Expressions of interest are invited from casual teachers of Japanese (primary and/or secondary) to relieve as the Tanken Centre Support Officer from 1 November 2017 until the end of Term 4 2017. There is a possibility to extend.

Applicants must have DoE teaching approval, and be accredited to teach Japanese.

Please download the EOI form below and submit by Monday, 23 October 2017.

Centre Visits for schools by The Japan Foundation

As part of its Centre Visits program, The Japan Foundation is offering free workshops for school students with the aim of bringing Japanese to life outside the classroom and encouraging students to learn more about the language and culture.

The Japan Foundation can work with teachers to create a program that is relevant to their students' interests and proficiency level. There are a wide range of lesson topics and activities that teachers can choose from. To  view lesson topics, please follow the link on The Japan Foundation website.

The Centre Visit program is free of charge, however, bookings are essential. Bookings are open for every school day of the year, but ensure that you book early, as dates fill up fast. Please complete the application form to book your visit.

Seeking temporary full time Japanese teacher - Terrigal High School 2018

Terrigal High School is seeking a Japanese teacher in 2018 to relieve in a maternity leave position. The position is for a full load (1.0) of Japanese, including Year 8 mandatory 100 hours, Stage 5 elective classes, and Stage 6 Continuers. However, the load distribution will depend on the experience and capability of the applicant to teach seniors.

JLTAV Annual conference April 2018 - Call for presenters

Dear Sensei-gata,

The 2018 JLTAV Annual Conference is scheduled for Friday 20 and Saturday 21 April 2018 in the Melbourne CBD. Expressions of interest to present a workshop are due 10 November 2017. Interested teachers should complete this form. 

We would like to encourage colleagues to consider presenting, especially teachers who have never presented at our conference before. 

All submissions will be assessed by a panel and all applicants will be notified of the outcome of their applications. The draft conference program should be available by the end of the year.
