Yumi Flynn
I am seeking a Japanese Language Teaching Position. I have taught from Kindergarten through to Year 12,
(Beginners, Continues and Extension) at all appropriate levels.
I have over 20 years of teaching experience. I have taught at co-ed, all girls and all boys schools, in both public and private schools. I have also been an HSC marker/examiner and judge/senior judge for 18 years.
I also have a great deal of Japanese realia, including a Kendo fencing outfit, calligraphy set, kimonos, origami, etc. Of course, I am a Japanese native speaker.
Whilst I would consider a position at a school within the Sydney area, I would prefer the local St. George or
Sutherland Shire region and hope to find a permanent full-time or part-time position. However, until I am able to find a permanent position, I am happy to do some casual work.

Doshisha University, one of the oldest universities in Japan, will hold a Japan Cultural Day in Sydney on 30
November. This event was highly successful last March, provided cultural  and academic interests of Japan for the local students.  The purpose of the event is to attract Australian high school and university students to study in their English-based degree programs with exceptional scholarships. Obtaining the degree from the world-class university, it would open great career opportunities for your students.
The program offers students studies in Business, Economics, Anthropology, Social Science, Politics and International relations.
Since the program aims to provide students with global views in each area, it has been attracting not only students who seek for cultural experience but also those who aspire to achieve their future career goals
internationally.
Scholarship opportunity
What the attendees expect to experience in the event is the useful information session for the program and scholarships, and also free workshops about Japanese culture such as manga drawing and tea ceremony.
The event took place last March with great success. One of the attendees remembers the event as “the highlight of the year at his school.”
Please find attached flyer for more details.

Seeking tutor

My daughter (13 years old) is very interested in Japanese culture, art and language and would like to learn to speak and read Japanese. I am seeking a tutor or Japanese class suited to a 13 year old beginner? She could attend lessons after school if there was an option nearby (we live in Kogarah) or we could drive her to lessons on a Saturday.
Can you please email or phone me with any information?
Thank you,
kind regards

Seeking tutor

I am a former student and speaker of Japanese – having worked as a translator in Japan in my 20s (which is now almost 20 years ago!). Since then, I have maintained my language skills at basically a conversational level.

I am starting a new job which I am told may require me to use my Japanese language skills. Given I haven’t spoken Japanese in a business context for so long – and really haven’t spoken a lot of Japanese at all in more recent years – I would like to spend some time working on those skills. I am looking for a teacher who could help me.

Please can you let me know if there is a Japanese tutor who might be available to assist. I live in Concord (inner west) but work in the city.

Many thanks

Seeking ideas for Japan trip

24/10/2013

I am in the planning stages of our trip to Japan next year and am curious to find out from other teachers if they had ever bought the 4 day rail pass and travelled to Sapporo and worked their way down, or even travelled to Kyuushuu for some extra time. We fly into Osaka and out of Tokyo but i'm open to suggestions of some great things to see and do with my cohort of 15 yr old boys and girls.
cheers
