2018 Japanese Film Festival school groups screening of Oremonogatari – 23 November 2018

The high school comedy Oremonogatari (My Love Story!) will be screened for school groups in Sydney as part of the 2018 Japanese Film Festival.
 
Date: 23 November 2018
Time: 10:00am-12:45pm
Venue: Event Cinemas, George Street
 
The screening will include a fun Japan quiz before the start of the film, and a unit of work on the film is available for teachers. Teachers are invited to bring classes along for a Term 4 excursion.
 
The previous cap of 50 tickets per school has been lifted, so you can now bring larger groups. Tickets are $10 per student, and can be purchased online by credit card or invoice.

School visits to Japan Foundation Sydney – Free

The Japan Foundation, Sydney offers free workshops for school students through the Centre Visit program.

Their goal is to bring Japanese to life outside the classroom and encourage students to learn more about Japanese language and culture. The workshops are run by an experienced Japan Foundation language consultant, Michie Akahane.

Teachers can choose from a wide range of lesson topics and activities. Alternatively, the Japan Foundation can work with you to create a program relevant to your students’ interests and proficiency level.

The Centre Visit program is free of charge, but bookings are essential. Bookings are open for every school day of the year, but make sure you book early, as dates fill up fast. The booking application form is attached.

Seeking part-time Japanese Language Teacher Term 4 2018:  Murray Farm Bilingual School

Murray Farm Public School is seeking a part time Japanese Language teacher to support their Japanese Bilingual Program. The position will be available for Term 4, 2018 with the possibility of extension.
 
In 2010, the Japanese Bilingual Program, initiated by the Department of Education, started at Murray Farm Public School. Currently there are 4 full time teachers and 1 part time teacher (2- 3 days a week) allocated to the program. This year, there are approximately 300 students participating in the bilingual program including three kindergarten, five Stage One, two Stage Two and two Stage 3 classes. The remaining 25 classes receive one Japanese language lesson per week.
