25/9/2014

The Japan Foundation is running an intensive seminar for teachers of Japanese K-12 in the January school holidays, from Monday 19 January until Thursday 22 January, in their new offices in Sydney. Country participants can apply for accommodation assistance through the Japan Foundation, and travel assistance through the NSW DEC. The NSW DEC will also pay the $200 course fee for succcessful applicants. It is imperative that teachers applying must attend the course for the four full days.
Please see the attached documents for further details.
All applications must be sent to your sector, not directly to the Japan Foundation. NSW DEC teachers must complete the DEC application form as well as the Japan Foundation application form and composition, and send to Sally Shimada by November 13. AIS and CEC teachers should send the documents to their own sector.

Studies of Asia - Scholarship opportunity

23/9/2014

Eligible teachers are invited to apply for a scholarship to undertake a Graduate Certificate in Teaching Asia through the Australian National University, during semesters 1 and 2 of 2015. The Studies of Asia Graduate Certificate Scholarship provides with support to undertake further education that will lead to an improvement in
student learning outcomes about studies of Asia.

It is expected that teaching and learning activities will be developed as a result of completing the graduate certificate. On successful completion of the Scholarship program, teachers will graduate with the award of
Graduate Certificate in Teaching Asia. This may qualify for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) toward a Masters of Education (Studies of Asia).

Participation in the graduate certificate program is open to full-time teachers who have been employed in the NSW Department of Education and Training for at least 3 years in a permanent or contract capacity.

The scholarship will fund course fees to complete the Graduate Certificate in Teaching Asia Program through the Australian National University (2 courses per semester is the maximum allowed). Up to 4 relief days
will be provided to attend two intensive programs.
