Nihongo Tanken Centre holiday workshops

The Year 12 Continuers July holiday workshop is now full. 
Enrolments are still being accepted for Year 12 Beginners (Wednesday 5 and Thursday 6 July) and Extension (Friday 14 July) workshops. 
The days were incorrect on the previous application form. The amended application form can be downloaded. Please contact the Tanken Centre for further enquiries.

Year 12 HSC July holiday workshops will be held as follows:
Beginners students: 5 and 6 July 
Continuers students: 11 and 12 July
Extension students: 14 July

Further details and registration forms are available for download below. 
Places are limited and bookings will close as soon as all places are filled.
If you are interested in booking in your students, please send the application (page 4 only) at your earliest convenience.

Careers in Language Fair - 8 August 2017

The Careers in Language Fair will be held on Tuesday 8 August at Glebe Town Hall from 9am - 3pm.
The event is aimed at students studying Japanese who are interested in pursuing a career in which they can use their language skills. There will be Q&A panels, cultural activities, and stalls set up by Japanese and non-Japanese companies.

The Japan Foundation, Sydney 2017/18 - Round 1 teaching materials grant applications due in 3 weeks

Application submissions for Round 1 of the 2017/18 teaching materials grant from The Japan Foundation, Sydney close on 1 May 2017.

This grant is for schools in Australia who wish to supplement their budget to purchase teaching materials for their Japanese language program. There are two rounds for this grant. (2017/18 Round 2 will open on 15 August 2017. Application deadline is on 16 October 2017.)
 
There are two kinds of programs in this grant; New Program and Expanding Program.
Visit The Japan Foundation website for the grant application guidelines and application forms.
 
Applicants are encouraged to submit a soft copy of their completed application forms to coordinators@jpf.org.au for checking before original documents are sent via post.  

Original application documents must arrive at The Japan Foundation, Sydney office by Monday 1 May 2017, by post.

HSC Languages Study Day 6 June 2017 - University of Wollongong and NSW Department of Education

The University of Wollongong is pleased to host its HSC Study Day on Tuesday 6 June 2017 (9am-2:30pm), in collaboration with the NSW Department of Education, as part of its outreach activities.
 
The Language Centre at University of Wollongong has been successfully running its HSC Language Study Days for over five years.
 
We would like to invite experienced teachers of languages and markers of HSC languages courses to provide invaluable assistance to students preparing for their HSC examinations.
 
The HSC Languages Study Day will offer French, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin and Spanish languages across the differentiated levels: Beginners, Continuers, Extension and [Language] and Literature (formerly Background Speakers).
 
If you would like to express interest in leading the HSC Languages Study Day program in your specialist language at the University of Wollongong, please email nicholas.wilson28@det.nsw.edu.au In your email, please include your language and course expertise, and experience (e.g. Spanish Beginners – 5 years teaching; 3 years HSC marking).
 
Expressions of interest close Thursday 18 May 2017.
 
If you are attending as a presenter only (not with a class), your relief will be funded by the NSW Department of Education.
 
The day will be a great opportunity for our students to gain invaluable knowledge and skills in preparation for their HSC examinations.

Thank you very much for your continued support of the Tanken Centre.

July holiday HSC workshops
We have already had enquiries about our July holiday workshop.
We will run workshops for Beginners, Continuers and Extension students.
The details will be published in Week 1 Term 2 and bookings will be accepted from this time.
We are very much looking forward to having your students at our workshops.
 
Booking forms
If you have a tentative booking with us, please send the booking form as soon as possible to confirm.
Also please let us know as soon as possible if you need to cancel your booking.
There are a number of dates available in Term 4. Please contact us if you are interested in bringing your students.

We are looking for a small group to join on the following dates:
Tuesday 27 June – Year 12 Continuers (this day includes HSC exam preparation)
Wednesday 26 July – Year 9
Monday 31 July – Year 8
