The Japan Foundation Teacher information pack

The Japan Foundation have compiled the attached flyer to summarise resources, professional learning, contests and event dates. Hard-copies will be mailed to schools which responded to The Japan Foundation survey in 2015. 
Teachers can request copies by contacting the Program Coordinator with the number required and postal address.

Hakuho Foundation Japan Experience Program for Overseas Children

Applications for the 9th Japan Experience Program for Overseas Children from Hakuho Foundation are open.

The Hakuho Scheme for a Global Children’s Japanese Language Network aims to provide opportunities for
Japanese and overseas students to deepen their understanding of each other and to grow into internationally-minded people through intercultural experiences and international exchange in the Japanese language.
 
Program overview
This is a program open to middle schools outside of Japan that teach a Japanese curriculum. The program invites students studying Japanese at an overseas school, and an accompanying teacher selected by a school, to Japan to visit a participating Japanese school for international exchanges and intercultural experiences in Japanese students of the same age.
 
Program content
School visit, cultural and social experiences, exchange events etc (there may be a home stay).
 
Participants
4 students and 1 accompanying teacher per school
 
Planned support
  • Return airfares to Japan
  • Departure and airport tax
  • Japan visa fee
  • Accommodation
  • Meals and activities (including training and travel) while in Japan
  • International travellers’ insurance
 
Application deadline
10 March 2017 (Original documents must arrive at The Japan Foundation, Sydney office by mail)
 
Preparatory Training in Japan for Overseas Teachers
  • 13 Nov - 2 Dec 2017 (tentative)
 
Program period for teacher and students
  • 12 - 16 April 2018 (tentative)

Stephanie Jung is seeking a Japanese tutor willing to teach a student preparing for the N3 level in the Japanese Language Proficiency Test in July 2017. The student has studied the Japanese continuers course a few years ago and is located in Epping. Please email stephanie.jung1@det.nsw.edu.au if you are interested and able.
