The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in collaboration with secondary and tertiary education institutions all over the world, have organised the upcoming 19th Week of Italian Language in the World. Taking place between 21-27 October 2019, the Italian Cultural Institute have arranged a series of events throughout Sydney and New Zealand which can be viewed below.

Co.As.It. and the Department of Italian Studies, University of Sydney are holding a book launch on Friday 12 April. The book is "Italians in Australia: History, Memory, Identity" by Dr Francesco Ricatti, Monash University, and documents Italian migration to Australian over the past 150 years. The launch is at the Italian Forum in Leichhardt at 6.45pm. Everyone is welcome. ![]()
The Week of the Italian Language in the World promotes Italian as a language of classical and contemporary culture. As a celebration of this event, the diplomatic and cultural network of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy has organised a series of events from 12-31 October 2018. The Istituto Italiano di Cultura will be hosting a theatre performance by Vincenzo Pirotta called “La ballata delle balate” on Friday 7 April and Saturday 8 April at 7:30pm in the Italian Forum Auditorium, 21/23 Norton Street, Leichhardt.
The performance will be held in Italian with subtitles in English. The play features a Mafioso fugitive in hiding, wrestling with his faith and the distorted logic of the mafia.
