Course prescriptions for Italian Extension
The organisational focus of the Italian Extension course is the theme: the individual and contemporary society. A number of issues that exemplify aspects of the theme are prescribed for study. Students engage with the issues through the study of a prescribed text and related texts.
Prescribed issues are: Society and Social Justice, Relationships and Changing Times. There are some options to consider.

Languages Teacher - Smiths Hill High School -Expression of Interest

A temporary teaching opportunity exists for a Languages Teacher at Smith’s Hill High School (located in Wollongong) for a period of up to 12 months (four school terms). The position is anticipated to start on 27 January 2017.
Criteria:
• Approval to teach one or more of the following languages – German and/or Italian and/or Japanese
• Relevant speaking, listening and writing skills associated with one or more of the following languages - German and/or Italian and/or Japanese
• Demonstrated capacity to develop and deliver engaging languages lessons for students in Years 7 to12.
• Demonstrated understanding of and capacity to meet the holistic learning needs of high achieving gifted and talented students.
• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.
• Demonstrated capacity to work with the wider school community to develop and implement extra-curricular programs

Nadia and her puppet Pinocchio travel around Italy and also celebrate Christmas Italian Style
An Italian Adventure and An Italian Christmas Adventure have been popular in classrooms, showing through film and photos the places which for so long Nadia had shown her students through books. Add a little mischief from Pinocchio and you have a great resource.
  • The DVD is approximately 1 hour of footage from around Italy.
  • The Resource Book which accompanies the DVDs  enhance  teaching. It includes the words to all songs, colouring activities, art and drama activities, quizzes, in fact everything you need at your fingertips.

BOSTES consultation on proposed prescriptions for Extension 2019-2023

BOSTES invites teachers to provide feedback on the proposed prescribed texts for 2019-2023 and issues for the following courses:
Background Speakers: Chinese, Indonesian, Japanese and Korean
Extension: Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Modern Greek and Spanish.
 
There is an online survey to complete via the BOSTES website until Sunday 11 September.
