Indonesian Teachers' Conference - EOIs open for presenters

We are happy to announce that we are planning an Indonesian Teachers' Conference for Friday 3 June 2022 online. This will be a cross-sectoral conference for Indonesian teachers. We are calling for presenters from all sectors and welcome EOIs from those interested.
Focus areas for which we are seeking presenters are:
- accreditation and building language teacher capacity
- language-based cultural activities
- incursions and excursions
- innovative and effective teaching and learning strategies
- improving student self-efficacy
- language learning websites and apps
- engaging resources and activities
- engaging your school community and advocating for Indonesian
- other.
Session brief:
- workshop sessions are 50 minutes 
- TeachMeet sessions are 7 minutes
- teachers may submit a joint EOI to present together.
To express your interest, please complete the EOI form attached and email as a PDF to Coreena Allen by 5 pm on 8 April 2022. Please note, all applications require the endorsement and signature of the applicant’s current principal.

Call for presenters – NSW Cross-sectoral Indonesian Teachers' Conference 2018

​The Languages and Culture team is seeking teachers of Indonesian from NSW public schools to present at the Indonesian Teachers’ Conference, on Friday 2 November 2018 at Sydney University.
 
The theme of the conference is Kinerja kita, Semangat kita

We are seeking presenters for workshops including:
  • - innovative and effective classroom teaching and learning strategies
  • - new K-10 Indonesian syllabus programming and assessment
  • - Stage 6 assessment strategies [Indonesian Beginners and Continuers]
  • - Stage 6 course prescriptions [Indonesian Extension and Japanese and Literacy]

  • We would be happy to receive suggestions for workshops on any other relevant themes.

Teachers are welcome to express an interest in presenting more than one workshop. Please note that applications must be submitted by no later than 5pm on Monday 15 October 2018 to allow adequate time for planning and editing.

All final presentations must be submitted by 5pm Friday 26 October 2018.

Non-departmental teachers are also invited to present – please contact Merryl Wahlin if you teach in the independent or Catholic school sectors and would like to express your interest.

2016 Australian Society of Indonesian Language Educators (ASILE) Conference.

This is a reminder that there is less than 2 weeks left to register for the 2016 Australian Society of Indonesian Language Educators (ASILE) Conference. 

Held over the weekend, Friday 30 September - Sunday October 2, this will be the biggest and best event on the Indonesian professional learning calendar for the next 2 years!

National Indonesian Teachers Conference - Adelaide, 30 September - 2 October 2016

Teachers of Indonesian from across Australia are invited to attend the 2016 Australian Society of Indonesian Language Educators (ASILE) Conference at Flinders University, Adelaide from 30 September - 2 October this year.

The theme for the conference is "INDOVASI menuju paradigma baru" (Moving into a new paradigm) in Indonesian language education. The conference will explore the future of Indonesian language teaching and research across Australia and aims for particpants to:

  • - Gain insights into the current trends in Indonesian language and cultures education in Australia and internationally.
  • - Focus on language education at all levels including, early years, primary, middle and senior levels of schooling as well as tertiary education, exploring Indonesian language learning as a continuum.
  • - Learn from exemplary leaders in the field of languages and cultures education.
  • - Develop strategies to plan and implement engaging teaching and learning programs designed to improve the learning outcomes for students at all levels of education.
  • - Update and improve cultural and linguistic competencies.
  • - Engage with peers

Registrations for the NSW Cross-Sectoral Indonesian Conference: Working Together to Create Engaging Learning Environments close this Friday 13 May.

Sessions will focus on the conference themes of Teaching Strategies, Promoting Indonesian and Growing Professionally. The conference is open to all teachers of Indonesian K-12, pre-service teachers and teachers from other states/territories.

Register now for the Indonesian Teachers Conference on 20 May

A reminder about the upcoming Indonesian Teachers’ Conference on the 20th May.

The themes of the conference are:
  • Engaging and effective teaching strategies
  • Promoting Indonesian
  • Growing professionally
 
We have lined up some wonderful presenters including Karen Bailey who is currently the Indonesian Language and Education Consultant and the Chairperson of the Balai Bahasa in Perth.  Karen coordinates the Indonesian Film Festival in Perth and in 2013 was awarded and OAM for service to education, particularly through the promotion of the Indonesian language and culture.​

Workshop presentations will include sessions on:
  • New Indonesian resources for the 100hours course
  • Effective differentiation strategies to enhance written and spoken expression
  • Exploring the opportunities and challenges of an intercultural approach to teaching Indonesian
  • Exciting new student opportunities to promote Indonesian
 
There will be a range of booksellers and exhibitors as well as short presentations from Indonesian cultural organisations. The program will also include an update on what is happening in NSW and nationally for Languages Education.

It is a wonderful opportunity to network, share ideas and resources. Please join us!

Exciting news! The NSW Department of Education and AISNSW are organising a cross-sectoral Indonesian Teachers’ Conference on 20 May 2016. It will be held at the Rydges Hotel, Central.

The conference is subsidised by the DoE and AISNSW and is registered with BOSTES, contributing 6 hours of PD. Please download the flyer below, with full details and the registration link.
 
We would also like to invite you to consider presenting a workshop at the conference. Would you like to share some of the innovative and engaging strategies that you are using in your Languages classroom and grow professionally? The themes of the conference are:

Towards an Asia Literate NSW - Implications for School Education Conference

The Towards an Asia Literate NSW Conference is a professional learning opportunity for school leaders and
teachers who are interested in cultivating an Asia literate school. Keynotes will focus on Asia and Australia’s engagement with Asia and the skills needed for students to be successful.

A reminder that early bird registrations close on 23 June. The IALF and Cinta Bahasa Language School are both offering special packages for teachers who wish to take advantage of language and cultural study while they are in Bali.
