Congratulations to Rebekah Ward from Coffs Harbour Christian Community School, who is the winner of the AIA “Lottie Maramis” Scholarship, of $500 towards her study costs at University. Rebekah will start a Bachelor of Primary Education next year at Southern Cross University, Coffs Harbour campus. As part of the degree, she will be studying Indonesian at UNE, Armidale. She would like to become a Primary teacher, specialising in teaching Indonesian.

Our school has received a donation of an impressive set of Angklung from a school in Jakarta but we are not in a position to use the instruments at present. I wonder if you may have a use for these instruments? We would be happy to loan these instruments out on a medium – long term basis.

Part-time Indonesian teacher position - TAFE Ultimo

TAFE Ultimo is seeking a suitable person for a part-time Indonesian teacher position to commence from February 2014.

Hours would be approximately 4hrs/wk over 2 x evenings 6-8pm, or Saturdays 10am-2.30pm.

Minimum requirement for these positions is Cert IV TAE40110 as well as standard LOTE teaching qualifications of diploma or degree.

A fascinating documentary from British comedian Bill Bailey can be viewed on SBS On Demand until 18 December. "Wallace In The Spice Island - The comedian continues his journey retracing the footsteps of Victorian naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace by heading to Indonesian archipelago the Moluccas, formerly known by the nickname of the Spice Islands. There Bill encounters boggle-eyed tarsiers, monkeys with Mohican hairstyles and spectacular birds of paradise on his mission to understand how Wallace devised the theory of evolution independently of Charles Darwin."

Australia Indonesia Youth Exchange Program atau AIYEP adalah program pertukaran pemuda Australia Indonesia yang digelar setiap tahunnya. Tahun ini 18 mahasiswa Indonesia dari sejumlah provinsi berkunjung ke Kiama di New South Wales, Australia.

Salah satu misinya adalah untuk memperkenalkan budaya Indonesia ke sekolah-sekolah di negara bagian tersebut.
