Studies of Asia - Scholarship opportunity

23/9/2014

Eligible teachers are invited to apply for a scholarship to undertake a Graduate Certificate in Teaching Asia through the Australian National University, during semesters 1 and 2 of 2015. The Studies of Asia Graduate Certificate Scholarship provides with support to undertake further education that will lead to an improvement in
student learning outcomes about studies of Asia.

It is expected that teaching and learning activities will be developed as a result of completing the graduate certificate. On successful completion of the Scholarship program, teachers will graduate with the award of
Graduate Certificate in Teaching Asia. This may qualify for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) toward a Masters of Education (Studies of Asia).

Participation in the graduate certificate program is open to full-time teachers who have been employed in the NSW Department of Education and Training for at least 3 years in a permanent or contract capacity.

The scholarship will fund course fees to complete the Graduate Certificate in Teaching Asia Program through the Australian National University (2 courses per semester is the maximum allowed). Up to 4 relief days
will be provided to attend two intensive programs.

Thank you to the 13 schools and 153 students who sent in their entries for this year’s Kompetisi Siswa.

Members of the Australia-Indonesia Association of NSW, along with the MLTA of NSW and the Indonesian Consulate met yesterday to judge the entries.

Each year we receive many creative and interesting entries, which makes choosing the winners a difficult task.  Congratulations to the place-getters from each category, who will each be receiving a prize generously donated by the Australia-Indonesia Association of NSW.

All students who entered the competition will receive a certificate of participation from the MLTA of NSW and each participating school will receive a certificate of appreciation from the Indonesian Consulate.

A full list of winners in each category can be downloaded below.

A special thank you to the teachers who encourage their students to participate in the competition each year. Terima kasih.

Seeking Bahasa Tetanggaku tapes

4/9/2014

I help co-ordinate a U3A group learning intermediate Bahasa Indonesia. The group is made up of senior citizens. They currently have the course book and workbook for the second edition of Bahasa Tetanggaku Stage 3 by Ian J White. We are trying to track down the Reading and Listening tapes that go with books. They have been out of print for sometime and are currently unavailable commercially. I was wondering if any of your members might know of a school or someone who has the tapes that I might approach for a copy?
