Dear friends and colleagues,

Another academic year has drawn to its end and on this occasion I would like to thank you all for your cooperation and contributions to the teaching of Greek across all levels of education in NSW.

This has been a fruitful year with inspiring efforts and commendable educational results on behalf of both our Greek Language teachers and students: almost 100 students of Greek were successful at the Certificate of Attainment in Greek 2018 Exams early this year, more than 90 Greek Language teachers participated in the 2018 Greek Language Teachers’ Conference, 14 Greek Language students received a Highly Commended or a Commended Award at the 2018 NSW Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Student Achievement – Community Languages Schools; among the first in State for the 2018 HSC in Modern and Classical Greek were a number of distinguished achievers who achieved exceptionally high results.

As this has also been my first year as a seconded teacher from Greece, I would like to extend my special thanks for their collegiality and support throughout the year to my colleagues at the Learning and Teaching Directorate (NSW Department of Education), Nina Conomos, Sana Zreika and Ashley Nouris.

Thank you all once again.

I wish you happy and safe summer holidays.  Enjoy your well-deserved vacation.

Merry Christmas and a Prosperous 2019!

Warm Regards,
Maria

Dr Maria Harissi
