29th of July until 11th of August 2014 in Athens in Greece, especially designed for Greek Diaspora teenagers in order to enhance the Greek national identity and create bonds with modern Greece.
The conference aims to give the opportunity to young students of Greek origin and good academic background, make friendships with other Greek Diaspora teenagers from 5 Continents!
The GSGA (General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad) is responsible for the programme wchich includes:
- Visits to museums and other places such as Acropolis, the museum of Acropolis, Planetarium, Delphi, Galaxidi, Nauplio, Epidaurus, Mycynes, Sounio, Ligina, Afaia Temple, Sparta, Mystra, Gytheio,
- Visits to the Parliament and the Presidents' mansion,
- Lectures on the timelessness of the Greek Spirit and the national benefactors
-Teaching traditional dances and songs
-Observation and Participation in cultural events and activities aiming to understand contemporary Greece
-Swimming in the Greek Sea
A group of 3 (three) teenagers from NSW will be selected based on the following criteria:
-One of the parents must be of Greek origin
-Students must be of age 15-17 yo
-Parents must not work for the Greek State abroad
-Very Good Academic Scores
Application Deadline is the 14th of April 2014
Both parents need to sign and submit
a)the application
b)a recent Photo of the candidate
c)a GP's certificate for the candidate's good mental and physical health
Expenses such as accommodation and participation are covered by the General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad. However, the flight to and from Greece will be covered by the parents.
