TEACHING AND LEARNING PROJECTS AND MATERIALS

Kalendar 2018 – Sport in Deutschland
The new 2018 wall calendar has arrived. This year's title is Sport in Deutschland. Each month is presented with an image on the front page and further information on the back page, including statements of young people, interviews, cartoons and statistics. The calendar addresses topics of interest to young people aged between 15 and 25, such as swimming, skiing, climbing, break dance, surfing, vaulting and unicycling. Of course one of the most important topics this year will be soccer. The materials are perfectly suitable for the German class room.

All pages and additional teaching material for each month are available for download from the Goethe Institut website.

Enterprise German – Unternehmen Deutsch promotes the collaboration between schools and German companies/or Australian companies with a relationship to German speaking countries within the region. Applications for Term 2, 2018 are now open.

Lego Mindstorms – robotics and coding in German

LEGO® MINDSTORMS® EV3 is a robot composed of a programmable computer, motors and sensors. The robots can be built into different models using LEGO bricks. Depending on the complexity of the project LEGO MINDSTORMS are suited to students from Years 5 to 9.

Coding with Blue-Bot: resources for primary schools (K–2)

Blue-Bot is a small robot that can be programmed using a tablet or PC or with the arrows on the robot itself. Through this coding game students adopt new skills in Digital Technologies and learn German at the same time. Additionally, with the Goethe-Institut’s classroom mats other learning areas can be integrated in the German lessons.
