German proposed texts for Extension

A new prescribed text is being proposed for the German Extension course 2019~2023.

The previously proposed text was Auf das Leben. The NEW proposed text is listed below.

Department of Education teachers are encouraged to review the proposed texts and respond to Janelle Byrne by 4 November 2016. Responses can include feedback on whether teachers would prefer the previously proposed text or the new proposal below.

Tschick (film)
The film will be screened at the Goethe-Institut on 3 November at 4.30 pm. For more details about the screening contact the Goethe-Institut on (02) 8356 8333 or see the previous post on Languages NSW. 
Extracts will represent about 30 minutes of film time.

Dear Teachers of German,
We are thrilled to invite you to the pre-screening of TSCHICK to thank you for your terrific work, engagement, and interest you are taking in teaching German. Tschick is presently been considered by the Reference Group at BOSTES for discussion on 8 Nov 2016 as the HSC film option for 2019. Howard Jacobs, Inspector at BOSTES will be present at the screening. Please join us after the film for refreshments and a chat.

TSCHICK/ GOODBYE BERLIN is the opening film of the German Film Fest 2016. The latest feature film by multi-award winning director Fatih Akin (Head-On, Soul Kitchen) Goodbye Berlin will take you on a road trip through provincial Germany. The film is based on the best-selling cult novel Tschick by the late author Wolfgang Herrndorf. It is one of Germany's biggest literary successes in recent years and has been published in Australia under the title Why We Took the Car.

A temporary vacancy for 2017 for a teacher of Languages (French, German and willingness to teach ESL)
at Orara HS which is a major, comprehensive secondary school in the City of Coffs Harbour.
Students at Orara High School strive to maximise human potential in a caring, co-operative learning environment. This common purpose has sustained traditions of academic, sporting, cultural and artistic achievement.
 
An opportunity for interested staff is available for 2017 in the position of Classroom Teacher Language.
 
The position is to replace our Language teacher taking LSL.

Languages at Sydney: Go Global

Come and participate in an exciting event at the University of Sydney on 2 March 2017.

The Languages at Sydney: Go Globalevent will introduce students to the languages offered by the School of Languages and Cultures (SLC) at the University of Sydney. It will give students an opportunity to participate in language tutorials, with a view to better understanding the differences between languages study at school and at university.
