Hosting a German Teaching Assistant in 2014

Applications are now open for government schools wishing to host a German Teaching Assistant in 2014. 

Three German Teaching Assistants will take up their positions in the successful host schools from the beginning of 2014, after a two day induction and orientation program.

Teaching Assistants are appointed above-establishment for three days per week. There is no cost to the school in hosting a Teaching Assistant.

European Day of Languages

26 September 2013: For the 4th time, the Goethe-Institut, Alliance
Francaise, Istituto Italiano di Cultura, Instituto Cervantes and the British
Council are joining forces to celebrate the European Day of Languages in Sydney,
in partnership with Waverley Library.

There is a photo competition for primary students (aged 9-12), and
storybooks for the little ones. Entries close 18.09.13.

Extension workshops @ Goethe-Institut

As a follow-up to the recent Extension workshop for the new prescribed film in NSW, teachers of German, together with the Goethe-Institut Australien, would like to organise two more days in which materials for the course could be developed for later distribution. The Goethe-Institut has kindly offered to accommodate the groups and would now like to have teachers enrol ASAP so that the groups can be organised. Catering will be organised by the Goethe-Institut Australien. There is no cost involved for the teachers, however, you would have to give your free time on Saturday.
  • Where?    Goethe-Institut Australien, 90 Ocean St, Woollahra NSW 2025
  • Who?       Any teacher of German interested in developing materials on the new film
  • When?     Saturday, 14 SEP 2013; Saturday, 21 SEP 2013
  • Time?      8:45am for 9am start – 5pm

Important note: Please bring your laptop and/or the film “Am Ende kommen Touristen” as the GI cannot provide laptops for everyone. One copy of the film is available at the GI. Free wireless internet is also available at the institute.
