2015 Languages Participation Years 7 to 9 Census collection

The 2015 Languages Participation Years 7 to 9 Census collection website will be open from Monday 31 August to Friday 11 September 2015. The Census date is Monday 31 August.

This collection provides data about languages programs in Years 7 to 9 in NSW government schools. Data from this collection are used for planning by schools, areas and the Languages team in Learning and Leadership Directorate.

Your school will need to log on to the Online Data collection website at http://datacollections.det.nsw.edu.auto enter your Languages Participation 7 to 9 data.

 #InstaDeutsch – Fun for Students of German across Australia
We are continuing our new photo competition “InstaDeutsch”. Follow us (gi_australien) on Instagram, get creative and win fantastic prizes! We’ll post a photo introducing a new German-themed topic every few weeks. All your students need to do is take a snapshot of their interpretation of the topic, use @gi_australien, add the hashtag #InstaDeutsch, write a short comment in German to automatically enter the draw.

Students love a good movie, especially if it’s in German. In addition to the student screenings that take place every year during the Audi Festival of German Films you can now borrow films for your German lessons from our film archive anytime. The films are in German with German or English subtitles. Titles, trailers and additional study material can be found on our website.

Das Brandenburger Tor, ein Gartenzwerg, die Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel, Fans bei der Fußball-WM, …  In total there are 122 images on the Germany poster of Goethe-Institut. All of them show Germany in a way – sometimes historic or stereotypical, sometimes modern and unconventional. The updated edition of the poster with 126 regional images, arranged as a collage, size A0 can be the ordered at the Goethe-Institut Australien for the price of A$25 (postage included). Teaching ideas and the order form can be found on our website.

Scholarships for German Language Courses
Language Proficiency scholarships offer four week German language courses at a Goethe-Institut in Germany. The scholarships provide the opportunity to update German language skills in a German-speaking environment, while the accompanying cultural and leisure program enables you to learn more about Germany.

Scholarships for Seminars
Teaching Methods and Socio-Cultural Studies Scholarships and Professional Development Facilitators Scholarships update the socio-cultural knowledge of Germany and review methodological and didactical issues in the teaching of German as a foreign language. The seminars aim to foster exchange of ideas and the development of teaching models in a group setting.
