Seeking teacher presenters for German conference, May 2017

​The NSW Department of Education is seeking NSW public school teachers to present at the upcoming German conference: Wohin geht die Reise?
 
Your contribution can take various forms, for example presenting:
  • - go-to teaching and learning activities that are consistently engaging and effective
  • - a task-based unit of work that has worked well
  • - a unit of work you have programmed and delivered with another KLA
  • - expertise you have gained as an HSC marker (you might wish to collaborate with others in providing an overview of different sections of the exams)
  • - an initiative you have undertaken at school that raised the profile of German
  • - how you’re collaborating with your partner/feeder schools to create and/or sustain continuity in learning.
 
The NSW Department of Education will either pay one day’s relief for presenters to prepare their presentation or reimburse conference participation costs to presenters’ schools.
 
If you are interested, please email a one paragraph presentation proposal to Michelle Walls by Friday, 10 March 2017.

Some of you might already know the fun Felix and Franzi teaching materials for primary level. Another set of lesson plans with new topics has been developed by our colleagues in London and is now available for download.

"Das Autobahnspiel” is an informative, interactive station game that provides many impressions and facts about the German-speaking countries, their culture and products. It's the perfect motivational game for students who are about to choose a foreign language, for beginners of German and even for parents. Opportunity to host German exchange students in October 2017

Exchange Me has a group of 30 students coming to Sydney on 7th of October, who are looking to attend a local high school for two weeks.
The exchange students will spend four weeks in Sydney and we are currently looking for schools with a German program to work with us.
 
Hosting an exchange student is a unique opportunity. It provides a broad educational experience for the students but also assists in their overall understanding of the other culture and language.   • - five copies of the CD-ROM, Vielen Dank! – German Stage 5;
  • - four copies of the CD-ROM, Ins Gesprach kommen - German Stage 6 Beginners;
  • - two copies of the CD-ROM, Schon gehort? - German Stage 6 Beginners;
  • - eight copies of the CD-ROM, Nueu Freunde – German Stage 4;
  • - one copy of the CD-ROM, Super!! Learn to speak German;
  • - eight copies of the HSC 2009 – 2013 language support materials CD-ROM, German Stage 6 Extension; and
  • - eight copies of the CD-ROM, Schon gehört? – German Stage 6 Beginners.

Carrousel Theatre's bilingual show "The Jungle Book" - GERMAN

Carrousel Theatre will be touring Sydney and surrounding areas from Monday 31 July to Wednesday 16 August 2017, presenting their bilingual show “The Jungle Book”.

The show is available in German, as well as various other languages (French, Italian, Indonesian, Spanish).
The shows are designed for school students learning a new language and are based on renowned tales adapted for puppetry.

Performances and language are adapted according to student age and language level. The performances are suitable for:
  • Primary schools
  • Junior schools
  • Secondary schools (Years 7 to 10)
 
Preparation resources for each show can be downloaded from www.carrousel.com.au
