French made fun for kids

Dear teachers,
There have been some updates to the French made fun for kids short course for teachers, which we shared earlier on our blog.
The course will run on Wednesday 20 April 2022, from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm.
Registrations are still open at $179 and include a catered lunch for the participants. 
Completing French made fun for kids will contribute 4 hours of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Accredited PD in the priority area of Delivery and assessment of NSW Curriculum/Early Years Learning Framework addressing standard descriptors 1.2.2, 2.2.2, 3.2.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.

We've certainly started the year with a bang - and we're only just getting started! Our 33rd Alliance Française French Film Festival is now well underway, with discounted tickets for members and our beloved school screenings for an unforgettable excursion. Beyond the Tour de France, there are some exciting French sporting and cultural events coming up for you to enjoy discovering in class with our selection of teaching resources. And there's plenty more to explore, including a new French cinema masterclass series for cinephiles, our recently launched DELF Junior practice sessions, HSC Preparation Workshops, our two-day annual professional development course, a giveaway and so much more!

Join us on Friday 15 April and discover ways to make the most of limited class time and engage your younger learners with a French experience they will always remember. EOI – call for presenters for the French Language Teachers’ Conference 2022

We are happy to announce that we are looking for presenters from all sectors for the French Language Teachers’ Conference 2022, to be held on Tuesday 28 June 2022.

Focus areas for which we are seeking presenters are:
  • - advocating for French at your school
  • - student engagement and motivation
  • - harnessing ICT for teaching and learning French
  • - assessment, reporting, marking criteria and feedback – K-10
  • - Stage 6 assessment strategies
  • - the role culture plays in learning and teaching French
  • - other – suggest your own.
 
Session brief:
- workshop sessions are 60 minutes
- TeachMeet sessions are 10-15 minutes
- teachers may submit a joint EOI to present together.
 
To express your interest, please complete the EOI form attached and email as a PDF to Evia Kyriacou by 5 pm on 8 April 2022.

Tiguidou!

To celebrate Semaine de la Francophonie (worldwide Francophonie week) in March, the High Commission has partnered with Muma Dojo to present a special online rendition of Tiguidou! – an interactive comedy show all about French Canadian language and culture.
​Tiguidou! (a very Québécois word for 'Great!’) will be presented live ONLINE to two lucky schools across 16-17 March. The event will allow students to learn more about Canada in a unique and engaging way, meet diplomatic VIPs, and enjoy a Canadian prize bag.
