6/2/2018

The Alliance Française, in conjunction with the Association of Independent Schools NSW and the NSW Department of Education, is presenting a two-day French immersion workshop on Thursday 19 and Friday 20 April 2018.

This workshop will focus on updating pedagogy and using authentic resources to develop engaging classroom activities. The workshop will be delivered by experienced Alliance Française teachers, who will work to ensure that participants with a range of French language competence can meaningfully engage with the workshops.

The Carnet de vacances is a great opportunity not only to update and invigorate pedagogy, but also to maintain your language skills in an immersion environment.

The flyer and registration details are attached. Registration closes on Thursday 29 March.

The Languages and Culture team is committed to supporting NSW Department of Education language teachers (7–12) to maintain their language skills and we are offering scholarships for teachers to attend this workshop.

The scholarship will fund the registration fee for the workshop ($120), as well as up to $500 of travel and accommodation expenses for successful applicants residing outside the greater Sydney region.

Selection criteria (to be addressed in a supporting statement not exceeding one A4 page):
  • - teacher of French currently employed in an NSW public school
  • - teaching load of at least 50% French (Stages 4-6)
  • - commitment to promoting languages in your school
  • - commitment to professional learning in French/languages.

In selecting scholarship recipients, the Languages and Culture team will consider location to ensure that a mix of metropolitan, rural and regional teachers have the opportunity to attend.

All applications require the signature of the applicant’s current principal. Please attach a one A4 page statement supporting your application to the expression of interest form, and email as a PDF to michelle.walls2@det.nsw.edu.au by 5pm on Friday, 2 March 2018.
