FATFA and NAFT Conference 2018 - call for proposals

The biennial Federation of Associations of Teachers of French in Australia (FATFA) conference will be held in conjunction with the NSW Association of French Teachers (NAFT) at the University of Sydney. The theme of the conference is Mapping French in Australasia: Pedagogical challenges of today, practical solutions for tomorrow. Currently, the conference is inviting paper, workshop (20 minutes) and panel (three x 20 minute) proposals.

Topics may include (but are not limited to):
- the standardisation of French teaching and learning criteria across Australasia
- new techniques, flipped classroom, information and communication technologies related to teaching French
- successful strategies and techniques to increase or maintain the profile of French at school or university
- the place of culture in teaching French
- future-focused approaches to teaching and learning French in Australasia

Details of the conference are as follows:
Date: 27-30 September 2018
Location: The University of Sydney - The New Law School

Abstracts for papers and workshops (200 words) or panel proposals (which should include the title of the panel as well as the title and abstracts for each of the individual papers) should be submitted to Valérie Combe-Germes by no later than 30 April 2018. A biographical statement (100 words) should also be included.

New French language series on ABC Education TV

ABC Education TV is launching a brand new French Language series in Term 1.
 
Bistro Escargot is a 6 x 6 minute series for beginner level students of French (middle primary – lower secondary).
 
The dialogue is entirely in French, and the writing and dialogue caters for beginner level students.
Topics include name, age, likes, music, weather, food, clothing, geography, numbers and more.
 
Bistro Escargot will broadcast on Thursdays at 10.15am commencing 8 February, and will be available on iview afterwards.
