Together we can make a difference!
We have just published a new Stage 5 unit for Arabic. In this unit, students learn about the importance of looking after the environment, including the use and management of natural resources and waste as well as different views on sustainability. Students also recognise that they can cut the amount of waste they produce by using the 3Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle). The unit also explores the impact of human actions on the environment and how to protect natural places, including those on the World Heritage List. The resource set can be accessed from the Arabic Stages 4 and 5 section of our website, under the heading 'Stage 5 - Arabic'. There are 2 full time positions for Arabic teachers for 5 days a week.
One position begins at the beginning of Term 3 until end of the year. The other position is from 14 August 2022 until 18 November 2022 with a possibility of extension. Send your CV to Elizabeth Whitby at elizabeth.crawford15@det.nsw.edu.au or contact the school on 9796 7998 for more information. We have just published a Stage 5 unit of work for Arabic on 'Let's have a great weekend!', including an accompanying assessment of learning task, with marking guidelines. We have also updated the Stage 5 scope and sequence so that it links to these new resources.
The unit is for students with prior learning and/or experience in Arabic and for students with a background in Arabic, and is on the Arabic Stages 4 and 5 section of our website. Socialising and enjoying time with family and friends are both very important in the Arab culture. Being able to engage in discussions about leisure activities and negotiate plans will enable students to communicate appropriately in a range of contexts, supporting them to develop an appreciation of specific cultural practices. We have just published sample questions, organised by topic, for Arabic Continuers. We are so sorry we could not publish these last month, to support students preparing for their oral examination. Publication was delayed due to issues with the font when editing.
The questions are available on the Arabic Continuers section of our website. We're super-excited to release our Stage 4 Arabic support – an updated scope and sequence, a sample unit starter, together with the related assessment task, with marking criteria. Thank you to our writing team for creating such a fun and engaging set of resources.
We have just added a document to our website to support students of Arabic Continuers in understanding the purpose, structure and language features of the prescribed text types, with sample questions to practise.
